What is a List Price?

The dollar amounts listed in our catalog are list prices. A list price is a manufacturer’s published or displayed pricing upon which other discounts are computed. All pricing is quoted through our dealer network. The prices listed in our catalog are similar to going to the car dealership and seeing “M.S.R.P.”, (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price). Your furniture dealer will apply discounts based upon these list prices as well as calculate freight and installation charges.

What is State Contract Pricing? 

Some states have existing relationships with Smith System® and its dealer network. If you live in Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania or South Carolina— please ask your District Administrators whether you will need to purchase using Contract Pricing, or Open market pricing. Open market pricing typically does not include installation or delivery. Contracts vary, if you have further questions, contact us and we will be happy to help you through the process. 

What does sell direct mean?

Smith System® furniture is not available for purchase directly from the manufacturer. Instead, Smith System® sells its furniture through a large network of local, regional and national dealerships. Think of it like buying a product from Apple® at Best Buy® rather than directly from Apple at the Apple store.

This network of dealerships works together with our regional representatives and educational facilities to guide the furniture selection process. What is an Open Line?

If you’re a representative of a school district, what this means to you is that if you want to purchase Smith System® furniture and have a standing relationship with a local dealer, we’re happy to work with them. Smith System® has many preferred partners around the country – dealerships that know our product front, back and side-to-side. We would be happy to refer you to one that best suits your needs.
